... Research | Personal | Nerdy Fun
For those who don't know me (which I would imagine is the primary audience for this page ;), I guess a little background is in order. So, to start out, I spent most of my childhood growing up in beautiful southern New Hampshire. So, I'm definitely a New Englander at heart. And, in fact, I even ended up pursuing my undergraduate education at the University of New Hampshire (http://www.unh.edu), where I ultimately received my B.S. in Computer Science.
Actually, I suppose I should also mention my passion for computers (and all things electronic) up front too, since I think I've been playing around with them for nearly my entire life. I started programming at a young age (10 or 11) when I had picked up a copy of a book on HyperCard from my father's library (I was interested in trying to learn to program my own computer games at the time); I've been coding ever since.
Currently this passion has led me to my present position as a graduate student in Computer Science at the California Institute of Technology (http://www.caltech.edu). Thus, for the past few years I've been able to work (or play ;) doing what I love best. Feel free to browse my Research page for more information on my work there, if you're interested.
Of course, one can't (or shouldn't...) spend all one's time in front of the computer -- so, I've taken to hiking and biking a lot recently. Although I'm not as fond of the monotonous weather here in southern California (and, yes, people make fun of me for this), being situated in Pasadena does have some perks. Namely, the proximity to both the beach and the mountains is hard to surpass. In particular, to anyone who lives in the area and hasn't visited the nearby mountains, I highly suggest making a trip up to the Angeles National Forest to check out the view.
In any case, I don't want to make this too long, so I think I'll stop here and let the rest of the site speak for itself. Enjoy!
